Abstract

The article’s purpose is to explore the relationship between corruption and human rights violations, which poses a difficult obstacle to development and governance in democratic countries such as Brazil. As a methodology of analysis, in addition to seeking to clarify an adequate concept of corruption, the text investigates how corrupt acts can violate human rights, and what the consequences of the phenomenon in different sectors of the Brazilian state. As a result, the importance of legislative reform, as well as greater transparency in government management, has been perceived with the presence of strong and integrated institutions.
